Being hyper-aware of what our loved one needs is natural, but what about our needs? Equally important is our health. What do we do when we’re faced with challenging situations to reduce our stress? Sixty-five percent of caregivers are hospitalized or worse before the person they’re caring for is gone. Dealing with our own needs is vital to maintaining the ability to be an effective caregiver.
My favorite tidbit is asking yourself where you are at on the stress meter. On a scale from 1-100, 1 being on great drugs or dead and 100 being on the verge of collapse. What can you do to reduce your stress incrementally?
