This is a baked bean recipe my Mom used to make. It’s one of hubby’s favorites and the smell brings back very fond memories.
If you listen to the podcast regularly you know Mom had a sweet tooth. We reduced the sugar from her original recipe and it’s still amazing!
Brown: 1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound bacon
1 cup chopped onion
Add: 1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dry mustard
2 tsp vinegar
Mix everything together then add;
1 can kidney beans (drained)
1 can pork & beans (Mom swears it had to be Van De Kamps)
1 can Lima or butter beans (drained)
Bake at 350° for 1 1/2 hours.
